The Office for Mac 2011

In case you wondered if the next version of office was going to come out, its here!  Office 2011 is now available and has some strong new features worth talking about.  The suite aims to help bridge the Mac and PC.  Some of the features include Microsoft Outlook, an updated interface, collaborative sharing and editing.   Although Microsoft has displayed all these exciting new features, the only down side is that Microsoft decided to forego upgrade pricing for this, meaning everyone will be charged the same price regardless if you have the older versions.

Some highlights of the Office 2011 are Outlook, which I believe has not had an updated version since 01, Word and Powerpoint you can now access files using Sharepoint or Windows Live SkyDrive.  Also there are some new tools for managing tables and conditional formatting.  Microsoft also integrated some alarms and alerts for any upcoming appointments or events, which can become very useful to you.

These are just a few of the new features that Microsoft added to the Office 2011.  As of now I have not purchased it to see if it is really worth it.  The price for Office Mac is $149.99 for the Home & Student edition, which does not include Outlook 2011.  The Office Mac 2011 that includes Outllook is $279.99.  If anyone has purchased the new version, what are your thoughts about it?
